I am a Dutch man living in Ireland.
Originally from a small former mining town called Geleen in the province of Limburg in the Netherlands.
I moved to Limerick in Ireland in November 1997 and have lived here ever since.
I am passionate about History ,movies and music.
History of Sorts is a site with historical articles and blogs. The majority concern the WWII era but there are also blogs on music, movies and even serial killers. So overall quite a good mix of stories.
Although a good deal of it will be my own input. I do use other sources to compile stories in order to have the broadest overview.
I have also written 2 books and I am in the process writing my 3rd novel, which is fictional but ties in with WWII and the Holocaust.
Due to a constant blocking of Social Media outlets it is getting increasingly difficult for me to post my blogs. So please subscribe to my website is free

Hi Dirk, I’m an American scholar who is researching Hannie Schaft. I enjoyed your piece on Schaft here; I wondered if you had any suggestions for resources about Schaft in English? Thank you. – Buzzy Jackson, Colorado, USA http://www.buzzyjackson.com

I shared your blog about 9/11 having just finished watching the documentary by the French filmmakers. I didn’t remember the name of the priest or the whole story but your capture of these details serves as an excellent reminder. I hope you are ok with my sharing your blog tomorrow. If not, I will not share.

Thank you. My grandfather’ s last name was Emmet. He was a labor union organizer on the docks in New York during the Depression. Thank you so much.

Ironically, he had the same name as the Priest and the same spelling.
