This year my list is simple,
No trinkets, toys, or gold;
I dream of gifts intangible,
Of values strong and bold.
First, I wish for peace to reign,
In every heart and land;
An end to needless suffering,
A world that understands.
Next, I ask for mutual respect,
A treasure pure and rare;
Where differences don’t divide,
But teach us how to care.
A dose of common sense, I plead,
To guide our thoughts each day;
To choose what’s fair and just and true,
And light a wiser way.
And may we share tolerance,
A gift that grows with love;
To see in every soul a spark
Of hope sent from above.
No wrapping paper, ribbons bright,
No bows of glittered hue—
Just these simple wishes, shining,
To make our world anew.
So Santa, heed this humble list,
And help the world to see;
That joy will flourish everywhere,
When hearts and minds are free.
