George Beilin continues to redefine the boundaries of modern composition with Moshe, an ambitious Hebrew opera currently in development that draws deeply from spirituality, psychology, and cultural heritage. Already known for his prolific output and emotionally resonant songwriting, Beilin uses this project to move beyond the conventions of pop and into a more expansive, contemplative musical form.
From the composer himself:
As you are well aware, there has been an exponential increase in world anti-semitism, even to include young Jews who have over- identified with the Gazans as the true victims since October 7th, 2023. It is incredible to think that this increase in hatred and Jewish self-hatred isn’t letting up. The anti-semitic increase is further fueled by the likes of Tucker Carlson who is still befriended by Trump and Vance and whose distorted views about Christian oppression in Israel is deemed curious enough to be assimilated by conservative Christian groups here in the States and elsewhere.
Sadly, the Israeli government has tried desperately to counter the growing liberal media propaganda by sharing facts but facts alone haven’t changed world opinions.
I believe one major way to alter world opinion and to bring back those disenfranchised young Jews is to utilize the Arts. I further believe that my production of the opera Moshe, with its historical narrative set to beautiful arias, could do the trick.
