Gideon Prager-1 year old boy murdered

It is stories like Gideon that make me want to give up doing blogs on the Holocaust, but paradoxically it also encourages me to continue with it. The reason why I want to stop is obvious. Every time when I see a picture of a beautiful innocent infant, knowing that child was murdered by an evil regime, I feel physical and mental pain. However, that is also the reason why I have to continue, to make sure it never happens again, although I feel like I and others are failing in that task.

There is not much to say about Gideon, how could there be he was only 1. He was born in the Hague ,Netherlands, on June 4,1942. On February 28,1944 he was transported to Westerbork but from there he was deported to Auschwitz on March 6,1944, together with 661 other men, women and children. Gideon was murdered in Auschwitz on March 6,1944.

There is more information about his family and especially about his mother and her family.

Family Prager

Fany Feingersch came as a German refugee from Celle to Zevenaar on 9 March 1939. She lived from March 9, 1939 to November 22, 1939 at the Jewish Youth Farm in Gouda, the villa Catharinahoeve with over two hectares of land. On April 1, 1940 she left for Rotterdam.

Fany’s parents, Isaak (Yitzkhak) and Rebekka (Rivka) Feingersch-Aswolinskaya, left Odessa,Ukraine for Germany in 1912. Because they had the Russian nationality, they were interned, seperately in Holzminden during the First World War. Once out of the camp they moved to Ovelgönne near Celle. There Fany was born in 1918. She was the fourth child; after her, a sister and five brothers are born.

Fany managed to reach the Netherlands together with her sisters Marie and Rosa. As a so called Palestine Pioneer, she had an agricultural education and lived in different places. Four of her brothers went to British Mandated Palestine. Her parents and two youngest brothers remained behind in Celle.

On August 30, 1939, Fany addressed a personal, handwritten letter to Princess Juliana, the Crown princess and future Queen of the Netherlands, pleading for her parents and youngest brothers to temporarily stay in a refugee camp in the Netherlands, The request was denied.

Fany married Wilhelm (Willy) Prager on December 3, 1941.

They lived above the pastry shop on Korte Poten in The Hague. Their son Gideon is born on June 4, 1942.

Fany was pregnant with their second child when she arrived in Westerbork on 28 February 1944, together with her husband, their son Gideon and Gerda Klein, her husband’s niece who lived with them at the time . On March 3, 1944 they are deported from Westerbork to Auschwitz (transport no. 89). Fany is murdered simultaneously with Gideon and Gerda on March 6, 1944.

Fany was 25 years old, Gideon was aged 1 and Gerda was 9 years old. Willy Prager survived the war. He was liberated in Dachau on April 29, 1945.

BloodyMir Putin

Dear Comrade Putin,

You tell us that you don’t want a war. You are only conducting this ‘military operation’ in Ukraine to create peace.

You say you want-Mir-I believe that is ‘Peace’ in the Russian language. But if this is really ‘mir’ then please do explain it to that poor man in Odessa, who went out to the shop just to come back home, to find that his Mother,Wife and 3 month old baby were murdered by your ‘mir’

Please do explain it to that man, and do it face to face, don’t hide behind your soldiers. Man up and face this man, person to person.

However I don’t believe a coward like you is able to do that. But I am giving you the opportunity to prove me wrong.

Your mir is a bloody one. Are you Vladimir Putin the leader of Russia? Or are you BloodyMir Putin, dictator and genocidal maniac?

Only you can answer that.

The Murder of 5 month old Sonja van Amerongen in Auschwitz

Sonja would have been 80 today. But as the title suggests she was murdered when she was only 5 months old. She was the product of love between two people.

Her parents were, Mother, Frederika van Amerongen-Veffer and her Father, Philip van Amerongen. Sonja’s Mother was a seamstress and her Father a butcher. Just regular people, not a threat to anyone.

Sonja must have been conceived in June 1941, the Netherlands was already occupied for more then a year at that stage. This might sound like an odd thought, but the Dutch Jewish community were already living in anxiety at that time. so even having sex wasn’t as normal as it was before, Every aspect of their lives was impacted by the Nazi occupation.

Clearly Sonja’s parents loved each other and Sonja was a declaration of that love. She was born in Amsterdam just like her parents. Her birth date was March 18,1942.

All 3 were murdered in Auschwitz on August 28 1942.Philip was first put on a transport to Mechelen in Belgium, on August 25,1942.He must have been transport immediately from there to Auschwitz.

Both Sonja and her Mother’s name are on the same transport list. It appears to me they were sent to Auschwitz from Westerbork.

I noticed another name on that list, Golda Barber-Lewinson, I noticed it because it links to the current war raging in Europe. Golda was born in Odessa which is now in the Ukraine. That is all what I will say about that.

Golda, her husband and their 7 month son were also murdered in Auschwitz, Golda was murdered a day before Sonja and her family. Golda’s son Alfred was murdered on the same day as Sonja.

Golda’s husband, Salomon, was murdered a few days later.

Walter Kutschmann- the escaped butcher of Lwow.

Walter Kutschmann (24 July 1914 – 30 August 1986) was a German SSUntersturmführer and Gestapo officer, a member of an Einsatzkommando, based first in Lwów, Poland (today Lviv, Ukraine), and later in Drohobycz. He was culpable for the massacre of 1,500 Polish Jews in Lwów, Poland in the years 1941–42.

At the start of the Second World War, he moved to Leipzig, where he joined the SiPo (Security Police) forces commanded by Karl Eberhard Schöngarth. He was promoted to SS-Untersturmführer and was the commanding officer of an Einsatzgruppe that operated in Drohobycz, Poland. Under his leadership, Kutschmann participated in the massacre of Lwów professors in 1941.

In 1942, he ordered the murder of 1,500 Polish intellectuals in the Lwów region, in Brzeziny and Podhajce in what is now part of Ukraine. Witnesses said that the Ukrainians who were ordered to dig the graves for the killings were themselves later slain on Kutschmann’s orders. Witnesses also claim that Kutschmann shot a 17 or 18-year-old Jewish housemaid in Drohobycz in 1941, after he accused her of having transmitted a venereal disease to him.

In 1944, on the orders of intelligence officer Hans Günther von Dincklage, he was transferred to Paris, where he was briefly associated with Coco Chanel during Operation Modellhut.

While in France at the end of 1944, Kutschmann defected to seek refuge in Vigo, Spain under the guise of a Carmelite monk named Pedro Ricardo Olmo Andrés, residing in Vigo.

When the French government began to investigate Nazi fugitives in 1947, he sought protection in the ODESSA network

and traveled by sea on the motorboat Monte Amboto, under the guise of a Catholic monk, arriving in Argentina on 16 January 1948. He was assimilated as part of the management of Osram, a lighting manufacturer, where he served as purchasing manager. There in August 1973, he married Geralda Baeumler, a citizen of German origin, a businesswoman and a veterinarian. They settled in the resort town of Miramar, Buenos Aires Province.

Kutschmann lived there until January 1975, when he was found and exposed by journalist Alfredo Serra.

Renowned Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal in Vienna arranged the extradition of Kutschmann. In 1975, after checking Kutschmann’s citizenship and marriage, which proved false, Interpol requested his arrest. The Argentine government attempted to arrest him, but he escaped, thus losing his trail. In 1975, his Argentine citizenship was revoked. A second extradition request was made in 1985, and he was again arrested by Interpol agents in the town of Vicente López. Given his precarious health, he was kept in a hospital prison in Buenos Aires, where he died of a heart attack before he could be extradited. His supposed wife was reported to the authorities for animal abuse, specifically for euthanizing homeless dogs in gas chambers.

Had he been extradited, Walter Kutschmann would have been the first Nazi fugitive handed over by Argentina

ODESSA

ODESSA

I have been following a documentary series on the History Channel called “Hunting Hitler” where they speculate that Hitler may have escaped rather then commit suicide, and that he ended up in Argentina, Although the evidence is compelling there is one big part missing and that is the Eye witness accounts of the staff who were in the bunker when Hitler killed him self,it’s nonetheless an intriguing notion.

Hunting-Hitler-hero-new

If Hitler did escape it would have been very likely he would have availed of the services of the organisation called ODESSA.

The ODESSA network (from the German: Organisation der Ehemaligen SS-Angehörigen, meaning: Organization of Former SS Members) was a purported international Nazi underground organization set up towards the end of World War II by a group of SS officers with the aim of facilitating secret escape routes – later known as ratlines – allegedly to allow the SS members to avoid capture and prosecution for war crimes and to escape to Argentina, Brazil or the Middle East under false names.

The name Odessa first cropped up in Western intelligence reports in the aftermath of the war, but today its status as a real group is hotly debated.

Guy Walters, in his book Hunting Evil, claimed he was unable to find any evidence of the existence of the network although numerous other organisations such as Konsul, Scharnhorst, Sechsgestirn, Leibwache and Lustige Brüder have been named, including Die Spinne (“The Spider”) run in part by Hitler’s commando chief Otto Skorzeny.Historian Daniel Stahl in his 2011 essay stated that the consensus among historians is that ODESSA did not actually exist. However, books by T.H. Tetens and Joseph Wechsberg claim to have verified the organisation’s existence and provided details of its operations. Wechsberg studied Simon Wiesenthal’s memoirs on the ODESSA and correlated them with his own experiences in the book The Murderers Among Us.

Today, ODESSA is best known from its appearance in spy novels and fictional movies.

Top secret US intelligence documents from 1944, which were uncovered in the late 90s, lend some credence to the existence of Odessa.

The documents detail a meeting held between leading German industrialists, bankers and SS officers in August 1944 at which plans were drawn to help high-ranking Nazis evade allied justice in the event of the then inevitable German defeat.

At the meeting, secret ratlines were mapped out of the country, designed to allow influential Nazis to flee Germany and secure false identities abroad.

Provisions were also made to move great sums of money outside Germany and camouflage foreign assets to create an underground Nazi empire, to be controlled by the SS once the Reich collapsed.

And it seemed to have worked. By the end of the war, and the start of the Nuremberg trials at the end of 1945, only 24 senior Nazis remained to face justice.

Using the financial assets smuggled out of Germany, unrepentant former Nazis, operating under false identities, were able to build mini-empires in pro-Nazi right wing countries in South America.

It is alleged that they were aided by someone who was held in high esteem globally and even musicals and movies were made about her.

In June of 1947, Eva Peron, or as she is known to many, Evita, embarked on a tour of Europe fit for a movie star.  The truth behind the tour, however, was much more sinister than the media of the time would have you believe.

According to records now emerging from Swiss archives and the investigations of Nazi hunters, an unpublicized side of Evita’s world tour was coordinating the network for helping Nazis relocate in Argentina.

This new evidence of Evita’s cozy ties with prominent Nazis corroborates the long-held suspicion that she and her husband, Gen. Juan Peron, laid the groundwork for a bloody resurgence of fascism across Latin America in the 1970s and ’80s.

Senior SS officer and alleged Odessa founder Otto Skorzeny was especially influential in the immediate post-war period, helping launder this financial wealth through Evita Peron’s Swiss bank accounts and via several South American dummy corporations.

1-k2AL7WU84Qp1w8Y6SEuntg

As early as 1945, Eva Peron had an estimated $800m dollars in bank deposits, and vast amounts of gold and diamonds, much of it of Nazi origin.

This money helped former Nazis purchase huge tracts of land in South America and elsewhere and establish whole colonies amenable to German life — protected by former SS officers and Nazi sympathising local thugs.

Once such colony was Colonia Dignidad in Chile, then under the control of the right-wing fascist government of General Pinochet.

Both the CIA and Simon Wiesenthal developed evidence for the presence at Dignidad of several at large Nazi war criminals including the notorious Josef Mengele — ‘The Angel of Death’, a senior Nazi and physician at Auschwitz who committed medical atrocities on inmates.

Some have suggested that Adolf Hitler himself fled to Argentina after the war, his apparent suicide in the bunker at the Reich building in Berlin a subterfuge to fool the Allies.

Whilst there is little doubt many small ad hoc groups existed which helped Nazis escape justice after WW2, most historians now doubt the existence of a large, coordinated and distinct entity such as the Odessa.

The name alone sounds unlikely — would a clandestine underground network of ex-Nazis name themselves the Organisation of Former SS Members, a name that would at least draw attention to their existence?

Some ex-SS officers who gave interviews in the 60s maintained Odessa never existed as the single organised global organisation as envisaged by Weisenthal.

They confirmed, however, that there were several smaller disparate group who helped Nazis after WW2, in conjunction with the Catholic church, several Latin American governments and even the CIA.

Odessa, then, may have existed in some sense, but perhaps not quite in the sensational way dreamt up by novelists and Hollywood screenwriters.

In the 1976 thriller novel by Ira Levin titled The Boys from Brazil, Dr. Josef Mengele, is involved in ODESSA. According to the young man, Mengele is activating the “Kameradenwerk” for a strange assignment: he is sending out six Nazis (former SS Officers) to kill 94 men, who share a few common traits. In the book the terms “Kameradenwerk” and “ODESSA” are used interchangeably.
