  1. I just couldn’t imagine!
The word holocaust is an understatement.

As one of the last survivors of World War II in Holland, I have authored a truthful memoir, “Innocence Denied,” A Holocaust Childhood, about the life of a ten-year-old boy raised by his deaf parents with speech disabilities during the bitter hunger winters of 1944/1945. I wrote this book late in life and did not speak of our traumatic past for many years.
Greg Laurence, a New York best-selling author, edited Innocence Denied and highly recommended reading about the survival of two young children.
A Dutch publisher will translate “Innocence Denied” in Dutch only, launching it in February 2024.
This memoir resembles much of the life of Anne Frank in terms of the brutal control and cruelty during the last two years of the war and being afraid of being transported to the German concentration camp in Germany and being executed. Feeling angst and suffering, Anne was kept like a prisoner upstairs in a secret annex to stay alive.
“Innocence Denied” A Holocaust Childhood is an emotional, heartbreaking, true story that demonstrates the injustice narrated from a child’s vision, how their reality changes, and how he must adapt to the circumstances and demands of the events of war and the terrible consequences it causes.
During the last two years of the war, we witnessed unspeakable events at the hand of the Nazis. Our disabled mother was determined during the dark days, with the children’s help, to obtain food and fuel in the most dangerous and life-threatening situations. Mother and Dad would not have survived without the help of their children.
Two young children are providing for our disabled parent’s safety during this horrific time. Experiences sometimes with deadly consequences.
I also wanted the reader to know there was hope, courage, and great love in the war’s misery.
