So many books have been written about the tormented artist,Vincent van Gogh , so there is no way I can add anything to his story.
My focus in this blog is about an event that took place this day, July 27th, 1890.
On 27 July 1890, aged 37, Van Gogh shot himself in the chest with a 7mm Lefaucheux à broche revolver.
No one had witnessed the act and he died 30 hours after the incident.It is assumed the shooting took place in the wheat field in which he had been painting, or a local barn.The bullet was deflected by a rib and passed through his chest without doing apparent damage to internal organs – probably stopped by his spine.
