A father does everything for his children.
A father provides for their needs, offers them comfort, and protects them. He loves them, hugs them, and tucks them in with bedtime stories.
But how can a father, with all his love and care, become a monster to other children?
Without hesitation or remorse, he killed thousands—many as young and innocent as his own. Among them was Arlette Orenstein, a little girl just four years old, murdered on October 3, 1943, under orders from Rudolf Höss.
This same father, who sent children like Arlette to their deaths, kissed his children goodnight. He held them close, whispered stories into their ears, and watched them drift off to peaceful sleep, even as his hands were stained with the blood of countless innocents.
A father’s love should be boundless, yet this father’s cruelty knew no limits.
Some bedtime stories are too horrifying for young ears. Because in these stories, the father isn’t the protector. He is the monster.
After the killing, he kissed his children goodnight.
