More people were killed in Auschwitz than the combined total World War II military casualties of the US, UK and Canada. An estimated 1.1 million were murdered in Auschwitz and 845,800 UK/US and Canadian troops were killed during the entire war.

Auschwitz guards had their own athletic team. The camp was like a small town, with a staff canteen, cinema, theatre and grocery store.
