In several European cities, they are remembering victims of the Holocaust by placing plaques in the streets where they used to live. The plaques are referred to as Stumbling Stones because people may stumble while walking on the sidewalk, and the purpose is to draw attention to the plaques. The plaques indicate the name, date of birth and death, and where they died.
More than 300 people were arrested and deported from Maastricht to various camps. Below are a few of the plaques. The photograph at the start of the blog was the plaques for Albert Drielsma, born 11 November 1907, was murdered at Auschwitz on 30 March 1944; and Sibilia Drielsma-Goldstein born 9 February 1906 and also murdered at Auschwitz on 19 November 1943. I presume Sibilia was Albert’s wife.

Irma Hertog-Stern born 12 September 1909, was murdered at Auschwitz on 31 August 1942.

Herman Hertog born on 18 November 1907, was murdered in Gross Rosen on 7 February 1945. Herman and Irma lived at the same address. I therefore, presume they were married.

Isaac Neuburger was born on 19 July 1896 in Amsterdam and murdered at Auschwitz on 18 August 1942. Arrested on 22 May 1942 and deported on 16 July 1942. (He was a Trade Textiles salesman.)
