Anne Frank was born on 12 June 1929. As we all know her story through her diary, I will not go into Anne’s story, but instead, I will look at a few other children who were also born on that day and who, like Anne, were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust.
Levy Spanjer was born in Amsterdam on 12 June 1929 and murdered at Auschwitz on 12 February 1943. He reached the age of 13
Philip Trijtel was born in Rotterdam on 12 June 1929 and murdered at Sobibor on 20 March 1943. He was 13 years old. Unlike Levy, there are no pictures of Philip, but there is more data. Philip was transported from Westerbork to Sobibor on 17 March 1943. There he was murdered three days later.
Sara Kloos was born in Amsterdam on 12 June 1929 and murdered in Auschwitz on 11 December 1942. She was only 13 years old. Although, there is only a registration card as a record of Sara. That card tells us that she arrived in Westerbork on 26 November 1942. Then they deported her to Auschwitz on 8 December 1942. There she was murdered three days later.
Salomon Seijffers was born in Gouda on 12 June 1929. The Nazis murdered him in Sobibor on 28 May 1943. He reached the age of 13. The year before, he was Bar Mitzvah on 20 May 1942, although it says Bar Mitswo in the newspaper announcement.
Before being transported to Westerbork on 24 May 1943, Saloman Seijffers was imprisoned in Camp Vught and on 25 May 1942, he was deported to Sobibor. There he was murdered three days later.
A stolper stein [pillars stone] has been placed for Salomon Seijffers at Lage Gouwe 84 in Gouda, the Netherlands, in front of his last residential address.
