Happy Father’s Day

Nine years ago, on Father’s Day, I saw my dad for the last time during a Skype call. He was amazed by the technology. His last words were, “Ik heb eigenlijk niets mee te zeggen,” which translates to ” I actually have nothing more to say.” A few days later, he passed away.

Fijne Vader’s dag pap , ik hoop dat Oranje wint vandaag.

A poem for my father in Heaven.

Whispered Memories

In the quiet dawn, I feel your presence near,
A gentle whisper carried on the breeze.
Though you’re not here, your love is ever clear,
A guiding light through life’s uncertain seas.

Your laughter echoes in the songs of birds,
Your wisdom lives in every choice I make.
Your voice, though silent, speaks in tender words,
In every dream and every dawn, I wake.

Heaven gained an angel when you left,
But here on Earth, your spirit lingers still.
In moments of despair and times bereft,
Your strength and courage always guide my will.

So, Dad, I send my love to where you are,
Beyond the stars, in realms of endless light.
You are my hero, my eternal star,
Shining in my heart each day and night.

Until we meet again in Heaven’s embrace,
I’ll carry your memory, your endless grace.
