Sex in the Bible

This is probably the biggest detour I have done thus far in regards to my usual blogs, but I think this is also an important issue to address.

If you were to believe some religious clergy man , you would think you would be cast in the fires of hell for having sex or even thinking about it.

However sex is a natural thing it is a primal instinct of all creatures in the animal kingdom. It is beautiful as it is also a necessity. Without we could not survive.

The bible is filled with references about sex and you would be surprised how explicit some references actually are. I am using translations from different version of the bible, but in general the message is the same which just a few different nuances.

1 Corinthians 7

The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

Genesis 38:8-10 some interpret this as a reference to masturbation others refer to it as a form of birth control.

Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.” 9 But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. 10 What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death also.

Song of Solomon 4:16 some scholars believe this is a reference to fellatio.

“Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread everywhere. Let my beloved come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.”

Judges 16:1

One day Samson went to Gaza, where he saw a prostitute. He went in to spend the night with her.

Genesis 38:2

There Judah met the daughter of a Canaanite man named Shua. He married her and made love to her.

1 SAMUEL 19:24

“He also stripped off his clothes, prophesied in Sh’mu’el’s presence and lay there naked all that day and all that night. Hence it continues to be an expression, “Is Sha’ul a prophet, too?”

Deuteronomy 25:11-12

11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.”

Proverbs 5-18-19

“May your fountain be blessed,
and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.
19 A loving doe, a graceful deer—
may her breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever be intoxicated with her love.”

2 Samuel 11

2 And it came to pass at haerev, that Dovid arose from off his mishkav (bed), and walked upon the gag of the Bais HaMelech; and from the gag (roof) he saw an isha bathing; and the isha was very good to look upon.

3 And Dovid sent and inquired after the isha. And one said, Is not this Bat-Sheva Bat Eli’am, eshet Uriyah the Chitti?

4 And Dovid sent malachim, and he got her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she had been purifying herself from her [menstruous] tumah (uncleanness); and she returned unto her bais.

Ezekiel 23:20

“There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.”

Leviticus 15:19-20

19 “‘When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening.

20 “‘Anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean.”

I am pretty sure you will not read the bible in the same way again.
